The primary goal of Flora and Fauna House

The reason Flora and Fauna House has been established is to create gardens for under-resourced families, veterans, and senior citizens. Funding for these gardens will come from the shop on this website and be at no cost to the homeowner.

Items in the Flora and Fauna House shop

Rather than selling the artwork and photography featured on this site, they will be given as donation gifts. Proceeds raised will be allocated toward funding garden projects for under-resourced families, veterans, and senior citizens. The cost of working with artists and the commission off the sale of the artwork varies. Each listing will be transparent in the cost to acquire, the commission received by the artist, the payment transaction fee, and the amount that will go toward garden funding.

Flora and Fauna House will design the gardens and work with local landscaping companies to bring them to reality. Your donations will have direct impact on improving the lives and nutrition of others, while helping nature and restoring biodiversity!

The second goal of Flora and Fauna House

I will be publishing how-tos that teach anyone with some space of their own, from a patio to a full garden, how to support local biodiversity. I will be writing about species that are rare, threatened, or endangered in North America and how you can help! I am teaming up with artist friends to create artwork about the highlighted species and the resulting artwork available as a donation gift.

Founded with inspiration

Hello! My name is Irene, I’m the founder of Flora and Fauna House.

The opportunity to witness butterfly metamorphosis and observe nature in my parents’ garden, combined with fresh produce from my grandparents’ garden were such important elements in my childhood and forged who I am today. I want to pass on that joy to others by leveraging capital from my talents in design, marketing, and photography to build gardens for those who will most benefit from the assistance.

April 4, 2020 my mom lost her battle with Lymphoma. She was endlessly dedicated to sharing her love of gardening and butterflies. In my hometown she had the nickname "The Butterfly Lady" after over a decade of sharing Monarch Butterfly metamorphosis with Roosevelt Middle School. Starting this non-profit in her memory is the best way I can think to honor her while also celebrating my love of nature.

I am also the founder of Passion Sprout, a solo venture that helps small businesses and non-profits with their marketing and design needs. I contribute many of my photos to iNaturalist to document seasonality and diversity of the nature I encounter.
